Last week, Shady Spring edged out James Monroe, 7-6, to remain undefeated in sectional playoff action. The two schools met again on Tuesday with a title on the line.

The Tigers’ Jason Meadows scored the first run of the evening on a throwing error, making it 1-0. Noel Sizemore drove in two more in the third inning to expand the Shady Spring lead.

The Mavericks managed a run in the seventh, but Tommy Williams was dominant on the mound for the Tigers.

Shady Spring takes the Class AA Region 3, Section 2 championship by a score of 4-1.

 

In Region 3, Section 1, Oak Hill outlasted Wyoming East at home, 4-2. The Red Devils will play Shady Spring for the regional title next week.

 

In regional softball action, Independence takes Game 1 of their series with Shady Spring 10-2. The two teams will play Game 2 at Shady Spring on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

In Class A Region 3, Greenbrier West plated three runs in the final inning to steal a game from Valley, 4-2.
