WV Board of Education approves fourth class for high school basketball

Charleston, WV (WVVA) — The West Virginia Board of Education approved a proposal to create a fourth class for high school boys and girls basketball. The proposal passed at a meeting on Wednesday by a vote of 7-2.

The change would take effect starting with the 2020-21 season and would run on a trial period of two seasons.

The WVSSAC will give each school a score from 1-100 based on enrollment, location and other economic factors. Final classifications will not be made until enrollment is taken from schools this fall.
