Last weekend, the West Virginia Miners won back-to-back games over the Normal Cornbelters. They were looking for another two game winning streak against the Champion City Kings on Friday.
Wyoming East alum, Josh Zeboskey, earned the start for the Miners. It was bumpy early on, as Dawson Degnan rolled a 2-RBI single into right field to give the Kings a 2-0 advantage.
In the third, a Brock Randels sac fly would cut the visitors lead to 2-1. Then, in the fourth, the Miners would knot things up with a Ross Mulhall RBI single.
The score would remain 2-2 until a breakout eighth inning from the Miners. They batted around and drove in six runs in the frame, surging ahead 8-2. That would be the final.
Zeboskey earned the no decision after allowing just two runs in five innings of work. Kyle Schaefer led the way at the plate with two RBIs on a pair of hits.
The two teams will play again on Saturday at 6:35 p.m.
