WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va (WVVA) — A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier is back.

It’s a little bit later in the year, but earlier in the PGA TOUR season. In fact, it is the very first event on the 2019-20 schedule. But, that hasn’t kept the golfers away.

“We always love coming to the Greenbrier,” said Patton Kizzire. “There are so many activities to do. We’re always entertained and the golf course is great. The people are really nice and we always look forward to this event.”

“No waiver in my mind about coming here,” added George McNeill. “I enjoy it every time. It was a short turnaround, but that’s fine. It’s part of the schedule. It’s part of what we do. If you didn’t like it, you wouldn’t show up.”

It’s been a hot summer in the Two Virginias — not a lot of rain to go around in recent weeks. But, despite the temperature, the grounds crew has the Old White in tip-top shape.

“We’re catching the end of summer,” Kizzire said. “I don’t expect the conditions to be much different than it was.”

“Overall I think the course pretty much plays the same way as it has in the past,” McNeill echoed. “Again, looking forward to it and getting started.”

The first round of the tournament will begin at 7 a.m. on Thursday. Play begins on Wednesday, however, with the Pro-Am, which is also scheduled to begin at 7 a.m.
